She graduated with honours from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya in 2008. She became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) and registered as a specialist in general surgery in 2017. She has also completed the Advanced Breast Surgery Fellowship Programme under Singhealth Duke-NUS Breast Centre and Department of Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, Singapore General Hospital. This fellowship focuses on both oncological and reconstructive breast surgery. In 2022, she underwent surgical training in Asan Medical Center in South Korea focusing on minimally invasive breast surgery. In 2023, she also visited the Royal Marsden Hospital in London to learn new techniques on oncoplastic breast surgery. She is also actively involved in medical education. She received the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence from Yong Loo Lin Medical School in 2013. She is also an adjunct assistant professor in DUKE-NUS Medical School. She was appointed as a Physician Faculty Member for SingHealth General Surgery Residency Program in 2018 and now a Core Faculty Member in this programme. She is also the Clinical Core Faculty Member for Post Graduate Year 1 Doctors in the Department of General Surgery Singapore General Hospital. Her research interests are mainly in de-escalation of axillary treatment in breast cancer patient, breast sarcoma and phyllodes tumours. Based on her work in the above topic, she was awarded the Singapore General Hospital Research Grant in 2016.
