Tarryn Shaw is a genetic counsellor at the Cancer Genetic Service at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS). She received her Bachelor of Science (Honours Genetics) degree from the University of Stellenbosch and her Masters of Genetic Counselling degree from the University of Cape Town in South Africa. She completed her certification with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA) where she finished rotations across all specialties in both children and adult hospitals in Cape Town (South Africa), Johannesburg (South Africa) and Oman (Middle East). In her current role at NCCS she primarily delivers genetic counselling services to individuals and their families at increased risk for hereditary cancers. She has a special interest in cultural beliefs and how they influence health related decisions, as well as advocating for and informing best practices to avoid misdiagnosis and mismanagement of individuals with hereditary conditions.
