15th Asia Pacific Breast Cancer Summit
A multidisciplinary program covering surgery, medical oncology, pathology, nursing, integrative medicine, and patient advocacy.
The Breast Surgical Session focuses on current and evolving approaches to breast cancer surgery, including breast conservation, oncoplastic surgery, axillary management and surgery following neoadjuvant therapy. Complex clinical scenarios and areas of ongoing debate will be discussed, with an emphasis on evidence-based surgical decision-making within multidisciplinary breast cancer care.
Key data from the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) will be reviewed by leading breast cancer specialists, with a focus on studies most likely to influence clinical practice. The session will cover important developments in systemic therapy, surgery, radiation oncology, biomarkers and translational research, placing new findings within the context of current breast cancer management.
Accurate pathology remains fundamental to breast cancer diagnosis and treatment selection. This workshop addresses practical aspects of breast tumour classification, hormone receptor and HER2 assessment, biomarker interpretation and molecular pathology. Challenging cases will highlight common diagnostic issues and the increasingly important role of pathology in precision oncology and multidisciplinary decision-making.
Integrative medicine is becoming an important component of comprehensive breast cancer care. This session examines the evidence supporting nutrition, exercise, symptom management, supportive therapies and lifestyle interventions during treatment and survivorship. The emphasis will be on scientifically supported approaches that can be safely incorporated alongside conventional breast cancer treatment.
The Patient Advocacy Session brings patient experience into discussions about how breast cancer care is designed and delivered. Topics include communication, shared decision-making, access to treatment, survivorship, health literacy and patient involvement in research. The session considers how clinicians, patients and advocates can work together to improve both care and the experience of living with breast cancer.
The Oncology Nursing Session highlights the essential role of oncology nurses in delivering comprehensive, patient-centred breast cancer care. Topics will explore advances in nursing practice, treatment-related symptom management, patient education, supportive care, survivorship and effective communication across the care continuum, with a focus on practical approaches that enhance patient outcomes and quality of care.
These focused workshops provide an opportunity to examine emerging developments in breast cancer treatment and precision oncology in greater depth. Faculty will discuss new therapies, biomarkers, clinical trial data and evolving treatment strategies, with particular attention to how recent scientific advances may influence treatment selection and everyday clinical practice.
